Cleaner Shrimp (Lysmata amboinensis)

Cleaner Shrimp - Lysmata amboinensis, a extremely common sight in the reefing hobby! Nearly every reef tank in the world is home to one of these amazing crustacean.

Know to spend most of their time chilling in overhangs or caves that they've set up as "cleaning stations" awaiting fish to come in and get their skin and gills cleaned off. They'll also occasionally stroll around the tank, cleaning up any macro fauna they can find.

Cleaner Shrimp will also suddenly burst into action at every feeding, lunging into the water column with the fish and grabbing as much food as they can.

Diet - Carnivore - will readily take frozen foods when fed to the tank, will also spend its days hunting down macro-fauna or chilling in their cleaning stations awaiting the fish coming in for a clean.

Colouration - Reds/White stripping on a yellow carapace.
