Rasta Zoa
Rasta Zoa
Rastas! The classic. The staple. The legend! This is an absolutely unmistakable member of the zoanthid family. One of the bright and most colourful looking members with its very unique and distinctive colouration, starting with the bluey purple mouth, a ring of neon orange and yellow, surrounded by a bright toxic green, then an ocean blue, ending in some bright grassy green polyps that just scream for yours eyes to gaze upon them.
Caution is advised when handling specimens of the family, due to the ability to excrete Palytoxins under duress. Would advise to glove up when handling and to wash hands thoroughly after.
Zoas like stability in basic tank parameters (Alkalinity, Calcium and Magnesium) but can handle being placed in newer set ups.
Locally sourced from a sustainable Coral Farm and picture shown is provided by the supplier (frags may differ to image shown).
Coral Care:
Care Level - Easy
Flow - Moderate to High (zoanthids and paly's appreciate more flow than you'd think)
Lighting/Placement - Low to High (Generally zoas do well in an array of lighting conditions, if they begin to stretch out though, this may indicate they want to be in higher light. Colours will also change either brighten up, darken or even sometimes morph into new colours in different lighting conditions)
Temperament - Peaceful (However when happy can grow excessively and smoother other corals as they grow and expand the colony size, some recommend keeping zoa's and paly's on their own rock islands isolated away from other species of corals)
Frag Size - come on standard plugs and the coral will be fully healed and growing, all zoa and paly frags are guaranteed to come with 2-3 heads minimum, some plugs may come with additional zoa's are no additional costs just due to the nature and growth in the farming set up)
