Snails - Nassarius (Nassarius margaritifer/Nassarius graphiterus)
Snails - Nassarius (Nassarius margaritifer/Nassarius graphiterus)
The Nassarius Snail another well known snail in the hobby! They're are many, many species under the Nassariius genus, I believe the species in stock is Nassarius margaritifer and Nassarius graphiterus, judging from the snail colouration and patterns.
All species sold in the hobbies dietary needs are the same, carrion and detritus (dead and left over foods) which make them a great snail to have in aquariums for clearing up any uneaten foods preventing them from breaking down in dead spots in the tank and unfortunate passing's fish or inverts.
The extra benefit they have in the home aquarium is for sand shifting, as they spend most of the time under the sandbed or substrate and only emerge to feed, so are good for keeping the sandbed or substrate of the tank stirred and agitated to prevent any possible unwanted build ups on the bottom.
DO NOT EAT ANY ALGAE.
