Snails - Banded Trochus (Trochus radiatus)
Snails - Banded Trochus (Trochus radiatus)
Banded Trochus - Trochus radiatus, another hobby mainstay and highly recognisable snail usually for its purple banded shell, which usually ends up fully encrusted in coralline.
Banded Trochus tended to spend most of the daylight hours hunkered down in groups under powerheads, return nozzles, rocks and other shaded areas. Then emerge in their numbers at night to graze over all the surfaces they can, scrapping away for any types of algae they can find.
Occasionally and if you're lucky they will spawn in tank and are capable of producing babies inside the home aquaria (beware though babies can clog equipment during their growth).
