Cerith Snails - Cerithium sp is a cryptic snail but a secretive hardworking member of the "clean-up crew".
It'll spend it's day hidden in the sandbed, substrate or hidden within grooves and holes in rocks, eating detritus and several types of algae including film algae, hair algae, diatoms, and some types of cyanobacteria within. Then at night, they'll come out of hiding and work away on the rocks and glasswork.
The shell of the Cerith has a prominent spire, whorls, and protruding knobs. Areas of creamy coloration and black striations.
This species of snail is predatory on smaller snail species than itself, including the dreaded vermited snails, they will also eat detritus, uneaten foods and will savage upon any dead in the tank also.
